Yeah, they may not be as quick as a Prelude, but they sure are fun.

I take it you haven't ever driven an MX-5, then?
I was like most people before I drove one - "oh, they're hairdresser's cars", "ghey" etc
However - they're just a hoot to drive. No, they're not especially quick, but they're plenty quick enough for every road in the UK, and you'll be having a lot of fun, and enjoying the wind through your hair
Oh, and by the way, the top should be down unless it's raining exceptionally hard and you're mostly stationary.

I prefer the looks of the Mk1, but they're not bad cars. As said previously, they're very fun to drive on twisty country roads I can keep up with my Dad's Mk1 Eunos in my Accord GSi though, they're not the fastest cars in the world. I had to take a brave pill to keep up in the corners however, those little roadsters stick to the road like jobby on a blanket.
My girlfriend desperately wants one after driving my Dad's, which works for me it's now on her shortlist along with a classic mini (she almost bought one on eBay Sunday without telling me!!), and a Toyota Hilux Surf it's just a shame she needs the fuel economy of the Xsara or I'd go out and buy an MX5 without a second thought, theyre fairly reliable little cars.
At any rate, kudos OP for buying another fun car!
