My VR4 smokes like a biatch on overrun or idle - my dad's said it's more than likely valve stem seals weeping slightly, especially as that's when the engine is under the most vaccum (especially on my turbo car) so could suck the oil through the valve stem seals.
Also - you're using oil that's too thin, they're designed for 10w40 (well, the 4th gen was, at least - check your manual for the recommended oil), so that won't help if the oil is like water.

im going to shove the last of my cleaners through and put in the GULF comp 10w40 I have set aside.
im in two minds which 'fortifier' to give a try.....
wynns gold ultimate or forte's oil fortifier. the wynn's says its not ptfe and will give back 30% compression......
thems numbers that could turn a guys head
@confused: did you happen to see if it was smoking on the few runs i managed to get on sunday maybe? i think its better on WOT but i generally like to be looking out the front window when my right foots doing the control's
