2.2 112MPH Import limiter

Post by sol-lude » Wed Sep 04, 2013 1:56 pm

Hi guys/gals,

I have recently set up the lude to run on MPH using 4 of the 5 wires and i believe that this has the 112 MPH limiter on it can someone explain how i can remove this. Or just some general information regarding this would be helpful

Thanks

Best way to remove it really is chipping the ecu, rob on here sells the chips for £30 ish and comes with everything to install it but does require some soldering skills.

I've got one forsale I converted just have to test it before it goes out if your interested?

best set up is what ive done recently,
jdm vtec engine, robs v2 chip and cut out the old convertor and fitted ukdm el dials - now that means vtec in 1st gear, no 112mph limiter and clocks read in mph. ;)

and please change your avatar - its making me giddy

haha okay this sounds like i will have to do some work to get the both of them :P may have to wait till next month and i will get in touch with Rob unless this is the same chip that @vanzep gave me and if i have the JDM dials will this not have higher MPH scale as originally read KPH

yeah you can you use your jdm dials and fit the convertor if you like - this should mean that you dont have vtec in 1st gear and possibly still limited to 112mph...someone else would have to confirm this.
The convertor and spoon v2 chip are totally different things. You also need to consider where you are going to fit the convertor chip - as there are a number of options and you need to choose wisely - id say at the Vss is best place but again im no expert so double check.
I always get confused so thats why ive taken the convertor out, fitted ukdm el dials and got an ecu with v2 spoon copy chip which is the ideal set up. Got no limiter, have vtec in first, dials in mph , no convertor chip to go wrong and a few more bhp from the v2 chip ;)
Hope this helps. :)

If you fit the MPH converter BEFORE the Ecu (i.e at the VSS) Your clocks will read in MPH and you will have no 112mph limit, BUT you will lose Vtec in 1st gear.

If you mount the Converter AFTER the Ecu (Behind the clocks) Your car will read in MPH and function the same as it did in KPH (112mph limit still in place)

Best combo is one of Rob's chips and the convertor behind the clocks, it's the best of both worlds and your dails now read up to 180mph

So can you just fit robs chip and a set of ukdm clocks and still have vtec in first, mph speedo and no limiter?

yes its the best way really as the km/mph convertors can play up sometimes and the ukdm el dials are much nicer to look at than the plain jane jdm dials. Also its unlikely that your lude will ever do the 180mph that the JDM clock show
