Water Pump

Post by Drax » Tue Feb 26, 2013 10:13 pm

Looking at getting mine replaced, seems like this is quite a common thing to be done, any recommendation on where you buy one from?

this one looks pretty reasonable
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-Prelude ... 4154a7e396

but theres a cheaper one here
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-PRELUDE ... 5d3ab1f61c
too cheap and nasty maybe?

or theres one from Japarts

You'll find the cheaper ones have a cast impeller, rather than a proper steel one like the OEM.

Considering the labour involved with the swap, your probably best going with the Honda item.

i replaced my water pump with an aftermarket one - the main difference i noticed was that the impeller was noticeably smaller than on the oem one i took off :( i couldnt hang around so had to fit it :?
so definately go for OEM :)

Don't forget to change the 'stat (if you haven't for a few years) at the same time.

Faster warm-up etc.
