Hello,
Anybody into economy modding or done anything to their ludes to get better Fuel Efficiency ? Please don't bombard me with replies of get a diesel as your missing the point...
I think its just as enjoyable to chase power as fuel economy, considering that the price of fuel is always on the up!

I had to do it to my lude last year when I was travelling an hour each way to work
Gave it a service with new oil, new fuel and oil filter, valve clearances.
I also swapped the exhaust for a quieter one and put the cat back in. Put the stock airbox and filter back on and made sure all the brakes were free.
Managed 34mpg if I didn't use Vtec
It was boring as hell though

LPG is probably the best option to save money on fuel costs.

Mine is just as hard-driven, but is notably more economical. Then there's the 86...
But just as with the lighter wheels suggestion; it's a fool's errand, since it would take years to recover the investment.
Practice the hypermileage techniques. At least that may involve rapidly VTECcing to speed & (carefully!) block-shifting into 5th. Which is fun.
But really, life's too short to worry about MPG.

Use a high quality ester-synthetic oil - 5W30 or similar. Full synthetic oils have lower friction than semi-syn types, and you will find your engines uses a few percent less petrol as a result.
Fit new rotor arm and dizzy cap, clean electrical contacts in the ignition system with cotton buds and isopropyl alcohol will give a healthier spark, and a few percent more MPG, especially if you've got nice plugs in there (NGK Iridium).
Fit a new air filter, ideally a K&N panel filter.
Also, correct tyre pressures will give a few extra percent, as will removing the spare and any other crap you have in the boot.
Keep air con off, windows closed and the lowest drain on your electrical system you can manage.
None of this is drastic by itself but will give a good 10-15% improvement if all done together... it's basically just getting things running as nature intended.
