I didn't realise my Golf had 2 separate air inlets, and as a result of this oversight of mine unfiltered air was getting into the engine for a while :? Didn't run any differently, or explode :lol: wouldn't recommend it though!!

Out of interest, why are the brand name long ram kits better than if I just used identical diameter mandrel bent tubing and insulated it from heat??

And apologies in advance if I've just opened the door on a total jobby storm with that question :worms: :lol:

i really dont see how they would be any different mate. brand whoring i guess, only wankers buy stuff for the name :zip:

although i guess the filters themselves are made of better materials and more durable

There is also these standard cone filters which are slimar than the normal ones! Why? Ireally dont have a clue do i..... :lol: :oops:

cone filters have alot more surface area than most standard paper pannel filters so physical size in that respect isnt much to go by
