Junction Box

Post by Lude-dude » Wed Mar 13, 2013 8:02 pm

doing a little bartop arcade project

I have monitor and power supply for arcade board and want to wire them into 30a 3 way junction box the round type from wickes

this is to have one plug for both devices

do I wire all the colours to the same colour neutral, earth and live?

I seen on the internet neutral wired to live on one of the 3 connections, but this does not seem right?

thought I would ask you guys, its basic electrical stuff but im unsure

That'll pop the fuse pretty quick! Live>neutral is a dead short.

Actually, they should really both be individually fused anyway, so I'd make sure you have an inline for each downline of the JB. Or just use a boring adaptor-extension mounted on a board, like everyone else.

I'd do that, save all the hassle

But yes colour match the colours if that's what you want to do, but as said I'd fuse both to be safe

yeah thats what I thought bloody internet

the power supply has its own fuse, so does the plug. thought I might get away with it

there is no room in the bartop for a normal extension, I suppose could make things much easier by using 2 plugs

I have been looking into building a cabinet for about 10 years but still haven't got round to it!!!

These sites are quite useful-
