Import motor in to uk car,,, ecu advice.
Hi guys, I've decided to put an import (h22) 2.2s motor and gearbox in to my 5th Gen motegi to replace the 2.2 (h22a8) after "an incident" that lunched my engine, I'm guessing that this is the best logical choice of motor to put in, (as the "s" jdm is higher compression and is very similar in all aspects although slightly higher bhp) the question is if I want to fit the type s ecu, will I need an obd1 harness converter?? And should all this be as easy as first planned??

The H22a8 has the same compression (11:1) and the same cams as the ATR H22a7 and JDM Type-S H22a, all other JDM engines are 10.6:1 and have the same cams as everthing else.
If your wanting a straight drop in I would go for the H22a7 as suggested. H22a8's are rare to find. But saying that 10.6:1 JDM engines are the cheaper option, you'd get a decent one for around £250.
