Mate I know how things go, my mum is not in a good way ATM and was taken into hospital. Its tough times for many at the moment, the only thing I can say that may help is YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GIVE YOUR CAR TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY, they always try and take the older cars away after a bump. Ask them to pay out and get the work done yourself, you have this right. Source a door and any body shop should charge you around £100-150 to paint it. Take no jobby off them insurance people, I managed to get paid out, they wanted to take my red lude. I told them there is no way you are taking this car off me.
Sink seem to be a happening a lot at the moment around the world.
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

Fear not Bri - I have ZERO intention of letting the lude go anywhere.Bri wrote:Mate I know how things go, my mum is not in a good way ATM and was taken into hospital. Sink seem to be a happening a lot at the moment around the world.
The facts (if I have this right) are:
Repair £532.80
In order to be 'uneconomical to repair', that has to be 60% of the 'market value' of the car, which would mean £888.
Frankly, there is no market value for my car, 99% of the ones that are available are rotten sheds (sadly), it's US, forums, clubs, enthusiasts, that determine what a GOOD example is worth. If I put my car up for sale on here for £888 I like to think people would laugh, and expect it to be a few thousand.
When I had the Mustang, the insurance companies would come to the club to determine what a given Mustang was worth, so that they could insure it for value.
I am expecting the engineer to call on Monday so will of course update.
On a lighter note, the guy from her insurance seemed to think that I was joking when he offered a Renault Clio as a courtesy car, and I said, 'If you give me a Clio, I'll burn it....'
