Energy suspension engine mount problem

Post by taz8520 » Fri Mar 15, 2013 7:35 pm

I fitted some ES mounts today only the front engine mount, upon driving home when idling my car shakes, RPM sits a about 6-700 which is about normal for my lude, when take it up to 1k the shaking goes, this problem only occurred after fitting the ES mount, does this normally happen?

That's normal, I remember seeing LLL's lude with full poly engine mounts and the whole thing vibrated a lot on idle. The rubber absorbs the vibrations much better than polyurethane but as it has more give restricts the throttle response through engine movement

Oh no I don't like it :( , my engine mount was dead though the rubber was split so I def needed to fit the ES.

Ok pete thanks, mine measured about 660cm from under the car, flange to bottom corner of downpipe.

i had a solid engine mount on my 106 and hated it, just felt like i was punishing the car a lot more.

Wish I had known about this before fitting :(, might have to look in to new engine mounts then to resolve it

There's a mount reset procedure in the 4th gen manual I'd imagine its the same for the 5th, basically you slacken all four mounts, idle the car for a bit to let it settle, then tighten them back up again. You're probably best trying that.
