To clarify - that's In Car Entertainment - not frozen water

No reverse lights

Post by Bludge » Tue Mar 19, 2013 2:14 pm

so i noticed last night after going out for a spin that my reverse lights werent working.
After a bit of googling i figured i would try changing the switch under the bonnet. still no good.
Changed the bulbs too and still not working.

Can i test the switch i got from the scrappy with a multimeter to check if its working or not?
and where does the wiring go from the switch? im guessing its not straight to the back of the car?

Thanks.

This might be way off, but isn't there some sort of wiring to do with the gearbox that relates to the reverse lights? Not sure if I'm being stupid or this is right.

so if I pop a multimeter on the connections of the switch I would get a reading when engaging reverse right? cause it could still be a faulty switch as I got it from a scrappy.
yeah will check the fuse today, thanks.

Try cleaning the connections on the switch

I didn't realise you got that part from a scrapy

Is there a specific torque setting for this switch

Maybe it's not reading because it's not close enough

checked the fuse, all fine.

will give it a clean. I didn't put it in too tight so will try tightening it up.
so does the wiring go straight from the switch to the lights then? like it could only be switch, wires or bulbs that are faulty?
bought a multimeter today so when I have some help I will stab around the switch with it and try and get some sort of reading! (don't have much experience with using one lol.)
