LOL my first post is in response to seeing the car i had just bought pictured here.

I had bought it that day and it died on me less than a mile away from the seller (it lived there for 2 days while i tried to get it sorted also had no tax so was lucky it wasnt towed and crushed :/

Managed to get it home with a new battery but by the time i got it home the battery light was on again (basically its draining while driving) its getting booked in this week to get sorted :(

As for the Type R badge i dunno as i have just bought it and guess its just randomly been stuck on, dont worry it will be removed :D

Welcome in, stinky-fingered amuser of the undead.

Motor looks nice in that colour, anyway.

Hope you get it sorted quickly/cheaply. Alternator, you think? One of the guys on here might know where there's one going if helpful....

hope u get it fixed up as i said its a nice looking 5th gen - looks pretty standard apart from the type R badge.
its kind of a standing joke in the prelude community as there was never a type R Prelude but there was a rare type S 5th Gen with extra 20bhp :)
is there a engine management light on the dash? you might be able to find out yourself what the problem is before booking it in to the garage.

Cool i will find out this week hopefully what the problem is, as for the pain it needs a respray (same colour) as its all cracked and weird looking (looks like a cheap paint job thats reacted funny)

No engine management light just the battery light after its been running for a while

like Doggo says probably your alternator - check the belt is tensioned up properly first - you should be able to pick up a 2nd hand alternator for around £40-£50.
did you go back to the seller as tell him about this problem?

Yea i did and he was very helpful but i won it on ebay so didnt feel i had the right to demand my money back etc etc, i only paid £540 for it so i dont mind spending a little on it.

It also came with that private plate which i will probably sell to finance some of the respray (when i find out how to sell a plate that is)

If I bought a car and it died a mile away after purchasing, I'd be straight back to the sellers house to put my foot up his ass.

So upon further inspection (which i failed to do when i bought it (which i usually do lol)) the car was previously a dull blue colour and has had a dodgy respray which has gone on to crack and flake of in areas, so i think the respray is going to cost a bit more than just a blow over as i think the red will have to be totally removed before hand
