To clarify - that's In Car Entertainment - not frozen water

Really should start with the fundamentals though. I assume this H22A engine is theoretically (new) good for 217bhp, just by replacing non-restrictive parts such as throttle body, inlet manifold, and cams. Was there anything else that contributed towards the extra 17bhp?
11:1 compression ratio versus the standard JDM 10.6:1 IIRC, maybe it was 10:1? Someone will confirm. Different airbox. I'm sure there are other things I've forgotten!

higher compression makes scense, to change the rate of a reaction you need to change one of three things - the reactants, the temprature or the presure, so yes that would work but what else needs changing to cope with this?

Also, DC2 type R 1.8 engine develops 200+bhp. In fact, my mate has the special edition model which develops around 210bhp I think?

What have they done to that engine to get so much out it?

Can the same principles be applied to my engine?

higher rpm, pushing the torque curve further up the rev range, s2000 - 240bhp but 9000rpm red line, think the same for the civic type r too

it is possible with the h22, but keep in ming the pistons are larger therefore heavyer and would have a lower safe cieling

Ahh, I don't suppose that can be achieved with an h22a can it?

Interesting! Food for thought certainly..

Sounds like an expensive modification though.

yeh, some dodgy spoon chip coppies do shift the rev limmiter to around 9000, and folk have reported that yes the h22 does do it, but i find 7500 feels/sounds like its screaming but thats just me having to much machanical sypathy

Yeah, I know what you mean! But I'd imagine with uprated cams it will sound a little more comfortable at the higher rev range.

yep expensive and it becomes obsesive (just check out some of the build threads on here), hence the no2 or go down the forced aspiration route

uprated cams are fairly common with good results, but idealy you need access to a dyno to correctly set the motor/ecu up. its no good just bolting things on, they need to compliment each other too.
