Lude ownership is changing

When I first entered Lude ownership the problems that forum members encountered were trivial and the youngest ludes were 4 years old. I have watched over the years the knowledge grow and the membership change from those who just wanted a sports coupe with minimum fuss and could afford a fair few quid to get one. Most of these people have gone on to other things. It strikes me we now have two sorts of owners now, those who expect a 13 to 20+ year old car to work without spending any more than petrol money. To those people I would say you are living in a fools paradise it will turn into a money pit before long so think long and hard before keeping it(or buying one)
The other sort of owner is the one who is prepared to graft away and spend what is needed to keep their car up together as it is fast going to become an appriecating classic.
Preludes get under your skin and most regret parting with theirs sooner or later!
When I first bought my current 4th gen JDM in 1995 I paid £3,000 for it and for the first 5 years it cost me very little in repairs the last 3years the costs have risen to keep it on the road and looking good. Last year it cost me £2,600 but hey its only money and I have a 21 year old car that still gets admiring looks and a lot of questions when I am parked. Tell me how many new cars can you say the same about?

Would I sell it? When hell freezes over!

I have yet to meet a Prelude owner who could honestly say they didn't miss it after they sold it. They may love what they moved on to, but they end up missing it.

I love the car, and always will. I wouldn't part with it for the world.

iv never expected any of my cars to be as straight forward to just jump and drive everyday, there is ALWAYS going to be a problem here or there but i will never sell my lude, i had a local guy asking to by mine a few months ago, before it was in a tent, and he clearly didnt do his research as he offered me 3k ! (he didnt know it had no engine)

any normal person would have chewed his arm off for that amount of cash for a lude but ive worked too hard to sell her and i never plan on selling it!

to be fair though the guy was a bit of a pleb, he was offering cash for a car he hadnt even seen running

brought my lude in 2004, it had 32000 miles on it, cost me £1800 and i havnt spent hardly a bean since, its had two front shocks, usual tyres and pads, ignition switch errr think thats about it apart from parts picked up here and there which i didnt really need. i was hit in the rear and tesco paid out £800 so the car only cost £1000 now thats cheap motoring, its starting to rust now but its still as reliable as ever, its even fairly economical compared to other cars of similar size (assuming your not in vtec most of the time). im going to miss it, spent many hours pollishing it for the first 3-4 years, really loved it was, then i started to get lazy and the age cought up with her but its still going strong and it STILL only has around 85000 miles on it. oh yeh just remembered it still has the same trans fluid in it as when i brought it, and its still clear and red. though i have noticed it now drinks a small amount of water, not much but about a pint every month it did this since i stood it last year for 4 months going to give it a treat and change the oil and some new pads this weekend, it may be the last time though now getting low on shoe rubber and the belts are 20 odd years old (built in 1992) i have also noticed the change in owners/members, sometimes they do still pop into my head when i read a perticular thread, for instance - rowan, what a card and so easy t wind up

I miss my lude if I don't drive it for like 1/2 days, I have a list of fixes and changes to do as long as my arm but it still drives fantastically and I love it more and more as the days go on, even after 3/4 years of ownership.
I sometimes think to myself that I should own and drive a much more wide selection of cars before its too late.... but then get back in the lude and think...."nah"...

something that has increasingly made my lude not everyday car is when I lowered it

over the years roads have got worse, mountains of speed humps, and cant drive certain places

apart from that if I hadnt gone down the route of modified I expect I would have spent very little keeping lude on the road.

people dont realize with the evo's scooby's and skyline's is that you need to keep up the service and running costs

I got my lude last year and before lude i had 3 bmw and i thought bmw are best, but after a while i changed my mind cause when i bought my lude oil rings were gone and when vtec kicks in i had plenty of black smokes, but it was still runing well, than head gasket was gone and waterpump and it was working perfect for a year, even with problems what it had it was doing 7liters for 100km on motorway and 12liters in city. It newer let me down and i think i never gonna sell it whatever happens i love it!

I love mine so much I bought a bimmer this year to drive about in rather than chance another wet and stormy summer

She has ZERO rust and I want her to stay that way
