Balance shaft removal

Post by Madhatter81 » Fri Apr 12, 2013 10:52 pm

Evening guys
I am in the process of building and new engine for the lude
I'm thinking of removing the balance shafts
Does the engine run really ruff with out these shafts??

Im also interested in this and whether it causes premature wear. don't want to spend a load on my build and do this and it wears faster just to get a couple more bhp.

I agree with ziyaan. :o

These engines are designed by experts.
They don't put unnecessary costly components in for no reason. :geek:

i know, as i understand it they put it in to reduce vibrations in the passenger compartment. In a track car you can put up with that but not if its going to cause damage.

There is a good thread on HT on how to do it without the eliminator kit. Its supposed to boost the oil pressure if removed completely.

It might be worth considering the drivability as well as it will have a similar effect to a lighter weight flywheel.

I'm sure removing it will have an effect on the lifespan of the engine. :geek:

if there is more vibrations going on it isnt going to last as something that runs a lot smoother
