Sc'd boost or na itb's?

Post by 106pete » Sat Apr 13, 2013 6:03 am

Now I'm getting this lude with the Jackson racing supercharger I don't know what to keep, basically I have both and I think it's all worth around the same.

My current spec for next year is a fresh engine with obx 52mm itbs, Type s pistons .5 overbore, Kaisenspeed balance shaft kit, Supertech valve springs, retainers. Adjustable cam gear, ARP head studs, New gaskets through out, New bearings through out, Rc440 injectors, Manual cambelt tensioner

Expected power 240 at fly??

Now the cams and overbite are not suited to boost so it would been a new block

But the charger it's probably worth same as above but would need low comp pistons at least for me, it sounds like the charger will be way more drivable but then it's only a track car although I do have to drive it there.

Power potential 280??

My gearbox is way more suited to na, it's a atr diff with Mfactory final drive. I'm sure boost would be better with longer ratio.

Any opinions? I need help deciding :?

boost works way better with longer ratios as it allows you to utilize that extra torque gained by adding forced induction as for track a supercharged lude would be alot more forgiving than a high power n/a lude should you drop off the band etc itb's will sound epic though  and your set up now is good and there would be alo of expense and time in changing it and you may add a bit of extra understeer with the extra torque of forced induction ahh i dont know im as confused as you
I hit the limiter in my h23 vtec still didn't kick in

If the car is going to be purely for track work its worth considering the issues you might encounter with F.I & running the extra power- heatsoak, brakes etc etc.

For reliability a tweaked N/A motor with ITB's & a sensible rev limit would be much more suited to your transmission
