Polybush or motor factor bushes

Post by DaveyBa8 » Mon Apr 15, 2013 8:27 pm

Lads I'm looking to get new bushing for the luxe the rear LCAs and front lower shock bushes could to with being replaced, heads fried looking at eBay for oily bush kits, does anyone here have any links for kits?? Some kits are big money with hardly any worth while parts. Or should I just refresh with motor factor parts for handyness??

Thanks.

Depends really. I dont mind the bumpy ass ride so personally i'd do poly bush's. Brand new bush's are as good as poly bush's, but poly bush's dont persih.

Poly will cost you a HELL of a lot less time/labour charges as they just slip in (thats relative) where as the OEM ones need repressing into the hole with heat and lotsa pressure.. This can go wrong. It also takes time and lots of effort. Poly route just needs the old ones removed and the new ones slipped in. Deffo a lot easier.

they then just need to be checked, cleaned and regreased once a year to keep the metal collars in good condition. you need to do this or they will corrode and begin to damage the poly.

IMO black energy suspension are only 15% firmer than new stock and greatly aid the driving of the car. Putting OEM bushes back in is for the concourse lovers maybe but the job is much more effort than poly and less effective.

I found a guy called graham Slaughter. He is on the sales team for energy suspension in the USA. I bought my whole Type S set from him delivered for 260£ ish? they mark things to be as cheap on tax as can be and its direct form factory. I will post his email if I still have it.

You really dont want to be pressing the RLCA bushes back in with new if you can poly. You only need to remove the rubber bush and pop the poly into the old metal sleeve. the alternative is to try and reallign the new and very big sleeve inside the rather thin housing. one will take 20 mins and has 100% success. the other could take hours and go really wrong if it doesnt house straight.

Graham Slaughter <dst.graham@gmail.com>

Paid 321 dollar delivered for master kit type S. that does not have the arb or Rca bushes. you need to order the ARBs seperate and the rca bushes HAVE to be oem though they are not easy to come by i hear.

Oldbushes>NewOEM>POLY.

im pretty sure ive got a spare set of rear camber arm bushes - oem honda ones for the 4th gen - they looked tricky to fit -jdmbb4 has a set of complete arms for sale if you want to replace the whole thing. You should be able to find the rest of the polybush parts that are needed. I would have a good read of @Merlin build thread as he did a full polybush on his 4th gen track car - pretty sure he listed what parts were in what kits etc
