Thread revival (because I'm too lazy to start a new one)
Waterless wash/quick detailers etc
After every shower of rain my car still gets covered in sandy dust and living in Cornwall, these rain showers are pretty much a daily occurance. I don't have a hose pipe or an outside tap and I don't always have time to crack out the buckets, shampoo and polish every day so I tried some of these waterless washes..
Mantis Instant Shine, £10 + £5 for the 2 Mantis MF cloths.
Turtlewax Waterless Wash, £10 with free large MF cloth - and often on offer of 3 for 2 in Halfrauds.
Meguires Ultimate Quick Detailer, £13 (already have a pile of MF cloths now)
Of the 3, I found Turtlewax was the worst and hardest to use, it didn't come off very well, was difficult to polish to a streak free shine and didn't leave the car looking as glossy as the other two did.
Megs UQD is easy to use, shines fairly easily, leaves a nice gloss but is the most expensive but is only really effective on an almost clean car, it gets dust and fingerprints off but I wouldn't want to push it much further, it seems a little thin...
Surprisingly, the JML special - Mantis Instant Shine, is fantastic! It goes quite a long way, cleans off all kinds of dirt and leaves a great glossy finish repelling/beading water brilliantly.. my only problem is I can't buy it locally so the Megs UQD is the one I most often use.
Does anyone else have any experiences, good or bad, with theese waterless washes/quick detailers that they wish to share? I'd like to try Poorboys or Eco Touch Inc. - has anyone tried these?
