Oil change recommendations?

Post by rugster555 » Tue May 07, 2013 9:39 pm

So had my type s for a year now, have serviced it twice already on magnetic 5w 30. However have read a few things lately which suggests its not the best oil as the magnetic bits eventually block and clog your engine? Not sure if there's any truth in this but am going to upgrade the oil anyway when my new AEM arrives this week :)

What's everyone's recommendations on oil? I was thinking castrol edge!!

Any input appreciated

Oh mileage is around 90,000 :D

Its been covered many times before on here. 5w-30 is a bit on the thin side. 5w-40 Fully Synth or 10w-40 semi-synth. Castrol Edge is a bit pricey and is in the wrong quantity unless they've changed it to 5L.

Magnatec isn't the best, but will work fine.
Just change oil and filter regularly.

I use 10w40 Gulf Comp in my S. And my S loves it. Loves eating it but i do hit VTEC pretty much every journey at least 3 times.

Yep in Plymouth :) haven't seen another one here yet :) yeh I bet this question gets asked alot lol I was thinking either Castro
Edge or mobil 1? So much choice tho, just wanna make the rite one. Gonna do a big service probably this wkend. What's the pros and cons of semi/ fully synth?

Cheers

Oh and since last service mine is drinking a lot more oil? Could 5w30 b a bit thin?
