Lots of people may have problems with it but unless it's everyone or a very large percentage then you just have to deal with it.

The reason you say lots is because you're looking for people that have this issue. Statistics can be misleading and more people will report a problem than report no problem.

If I had a bad KitKat I'd complain. If I had a good KitKat then it was good, end of story. I wouldn't go give Mr. KitKat a pat on the back and say thanks for making something as it should be.

mmm

There are a lot of reports of intolerances to aspartame. this is something I am involved with.
Unfortunately none of these are medically confirmed - all are anecdotal accounts.

When I said Aspartame was safe, this was not my opinion. It was the totality of a truly massive amount of research summarised and presented to the European Commission by EFSA. This is exactly the point I was making. You can google creationist truths etc. etc. It all depends upon what you want to believe. MMR causing autism etc. Again lots of peopel believe this passionately (even violently) but it aint so. Nothing personal, I'm sure the all the people that have these testimonys are completely convinced. What is lacking in every case is proof.

When strong opinion enters a room, scientific fact should not be expected to tiptoe out.

yeah i understand all of that but i have seen it first hand lol it wasnt a scientific experiment with blinds and double blinds by any means  but the absolute only difference was the aspartame.
The problem with "medically confirmed" is the medical proffession if you go and tell them you have a bad stomach or stomach cramps/cramping they tell you you have IBS which is a bullshit answer that means i dont know and cant be arsed

I hear you - have the same issue. GPs are generalists, don't get me wrong they have an important role but getting past them to speak to the right specialist is the most difficult thing. Am primary carer for my mother and continue to be how shocked at how difficult it is to find someone who give a flying feck. You just have to keep pressing. Abdominal pain is the worst as it is usually comes and goes and is really difficult to pin down.
All I am saying is that this has been looked at in great detail and there has been no link found despite many looking hard for one. You can never say never though. GI is complex, immunology of GI is really ciomplex and I suspect not fully understood. You can also never rule out irritation or coincidence with underlying condition. The irony is that it is usually difficult ot pin down until it is really bad and consistent and even then they will prob ask for biopsy (feck that).

I also a bit involved with coeliac stuff - new evidence is coming to light showing that this condition is both poorly diagnosed and not as fully understood as we first thought (chronic and acute forms). You can ask for a blood test for this - this is not always 100% but can help in the painful process of eliminating things until you track it down.

To be fair, there is a lot of anecdotal evidence out there on aspartame, you have to consider this and look for trends. The FSA (although controversially) have spent a lot of money gathering this info. No one knows what they intend to do with this info though. The criminal thing is that a load of money was wasted doing it as it has no real objective.

The ultimate irony though.......is that the consumer is king. Despite Ajinomotos best intentions and money spent on studies, if enough people don't want it. It will go.

i hear that but as you know the majority of people never look at whats in their food and if they have a problem they put it down to bad guts or must have been a bad kebab
we went through a period where my missus would eat something get bad cramping we would check what she had just eaten/drank find aspartame cut that out then something else would kick it off check that find that now contains aspartame i understand coincidence but there really is no coincidence.

I got that until I limited it to just the one bucket.....

......for dessert.

I wonder if Fergie got cramps from shouting "not fair" well into the night? Jose was a happy chappy wasn't he? Guess the Chelsea contract hasn't arrived yet! He needs more KFC in his life.

MMmm going to break a bit of a taboo her and actually mention a prelude :)
Have taken it for an extended blast, Sandhurst to Leicester today and back again tomorrow. Forgotten how much fun it is on the motorway. Especially the looks on peoples faces as you pull away from them when they get right on your arse at 70...ish

Bump from beyond...

Simple question:

What do you think about cloning?

And to give you some more options:

What do you think about cloning endangered species?
What do you think about bringing species back from extinction?
