1. Stupidly loud : Yes a blowing flexi will cause this but then so will a 4.5'' exhaust! I get a new flexi welded in

2. Stalling: Possibly as it the blowing flexi could be causing the o2 sensor some problems.

3. Back pressure well that can be a can of worms, some say its good some say its bad.......

All in all I'd get the exhaust fixed.

Hey man normally exhsust blowouts cause very little in performance issues, as power is made in the engine, a very very very slight drop in torque, power and back pressure is possible,

But you have a blowout before the lambda sensor which in turn will give your lambda/O2 sensor an incorrect reading resulting in wrong air fuel mixtures, poor performance etc.

As far as having a big back box, no worries there, its the piping before the back box that should all be the same size.

I replaced the coilpack in my 2.0 5th gen around 3 months ago, now its written off its being broken. So if 2.2 and 2.0 coilpacks are the same you can have it for £10 posted.

"finally got it running but holy hell it looks to be running extremely rich (thick white sweet petroleumy smoke coming out) so im sure some sensor must be off somewhere...."

That is probably fuel where you have been cranking it over to start it
