I've just had a look on the net and did you bugger up a shift into 5th shortly before it went wrong?

It seems to be a common theme and sometimes it just mysteriously gets better on its own. I'd not believe that either, but I recall it happening on my S2000 too.

difficult to get into 5th and you cant get reverse does sound very much like a gearbox rebuild, ATRs suffer from this issue its a bent selector arm inside the box.

sorry to be so negative but it does scream out as if this could be it.

i just hope i'm wrong.

gear box's arent the expensive second hand unless you want the right one for a h22a8 ;)

I'm fairly sure I saw an M2P4 gearbox for sale on here for 40 quid not so long ago... no idea if it went.

ummmm im kinda lost now. different people suggesting different things. yes i do have a good garage i can take my car too. i just thought it might be quicker and cheaper if i could go there with an idea of what is wrong so i dont get ripped off! it gets better on its own? that sounds nice but im sceptical about that! to your question.... did i bugger up a shift? the answer is yes! i did as a matter of fact...! Im really sorry to be so stoopid every1 thanx so much for the advice!

hope its not a new box but if it fits and you want to upgrade to LSD then crunchyaddams on here has a m2b4 lsd box going.

hope its something more simple though ;)

That's what I thought I did with the S2000, but I really dunno if I was too quick on the clutch or the gearbox suddenly baulked. Anyway, for the rest of the day, the 5 & 6 plane was like made of wood. It got better the next day, much to my surprise.

If you gooogle it, there are a few Prelude sites where you'll find the same thing happening. Unless a detent plunger unjams itself eventually, I cannot logically see how it can get better. But I'd give it a while, before going for a box rebuild.

I'd have said the other likelihood is definitely the ATR/VTi bent selector, but don't rush in just yet.
