So this wasnt a stupid question in the end, I've just created a massive Vtec fight instead. 8-)

Depends on what rpm it comes in at, also B series don't have torque, at all! Lol, H22s and K20s do have some torque

In my SiR and Type-S, both very smooth but in my S you can't even feel the VTEC.. Must be good.
I must say Nitin. I felt your VTEC kick in much more than mine.
I could feel the VTEC kick on mine but it was very subtle. SInce having the Hytech installed its all gone. Very nice power curve. Just a change in sound now.

It just needs a bloody thorough service like egr clean, vtec solenoid, plugs etc etc.

wurlycorner wrote:So if smooth is better, why is the ATR raved about and said to have a far more harsh cross over?
The ATR's vtec comes in later, at 5800 rpm, with a power hike of at least 20bhp. Its reputation is based on a sort of Jekyll-and-Hyde thing, so it's been tuned to make it feel like a different beast at higher revs.

The crossover on mine has always been smooth, just a change in pitch and a nice push in the back.

It is however annoying dropping below VTEC when changing gears.
