Remote Central Locking Question

Post by macky_6 » Tue May 28, 2013 7:07 pm

Hey all,

Did the Type S come with remote central locking?

When i bought the car i wasn't given a fob. When i open/close the drivers door with the key, both doors open/unlock.

So i am guessing that if i managed to get hold of a fob, could i get it re-programmed or something to my car :?

Just an idea but it maybe better to just fit an aftermarket thatcham cat 1 alarm/immobiliser. You can link them up to your central locking to work off the fob plus you get extra security and it might bring your insurance down :)

What's actually involved in installing oem remote locking? If its just a case of plugging in wires, I have all the stuff on my prelude I'm breaking.

I fitted an aftermarket remote locking kit on my 5th gen. It already had central locking on the key so all motors etc were already there. The aftermarket kit was simply a receiver / controller, fobs and an led that flashes while the car is locked. With that in mind, I think it would be easy to fit an oem version - though don't actually know as not looked at wiring diagrams for a while.

I have a thatcham cat 1 toad alarm and mobilizer on mine. Plus i was given the standard fob. Never actually tried the standard one tbh. Never looked at wires either.
