The water pump could suck in air, but is unlikely as as soon as it builds pressure it will push out coolant. When u take the cover off it will be real evident as to were its coming from. Most probably going to be the pump. There is no hoses going to or from the pump as its built into the block. Uses all the water ways for the purpose of water movement.

And the bubbles from the rad cap could just be air trapped in the system. :?

Thanks buddy, I have only noticed the stream of bubbles once actually while bleeding the system so fingers crossed the HG is ok!

Hey @Bri, which under bonnet relay is for the cooling fan? I unplugged the green plug on the back of the thermostat and jumped the terminals on the wiring loom to see if the fan would start up. It didn't, and there was also no click from any relays, so maybe that's why my fans never work.

Ok, I'm thick. I jumped the wrong wires, the relay is fine, if I jump the correct wires the fan fires up which leads me to try another thermal switch. I will try this when I have fitted my new water pump etc..

Another thing I've noticed is if I fire it up, after about 30 seconds there is quite a lot of white steam/smoke coming from the exhaust, with moisture droplets collecting in the tailpipe - I have a 4 2 1 manifold straight thru to backbox. After 10 minutes on the road, no more steam/smoke.. my dad thinks its head gasket, I want him to be wrong. There is no mayo in my oil or water.. could it just be condensation from the big fat stainless exhaust??
