Future H22 Manual Conversion for Gen3

Post by CrunchyAdams82 » Sun Jun 02, 2013 4:51 pm

G'day,

Ok, in about 6 months or so I'm going to be wanting to fit a H22A into my Gen3; whilst simultaneously converting it to manual transmission.

This means over the next 5/6 months, I've got a few parts to collect; as and when I can afford them.

So what I'm asking for here is some input into;

a) What parts I am going to need.
b) What problems are likely to be encountered, i.e, wiring/looms, ECU.
c) Sourcing those 'hard to find' parts, i.e. modified engine mounts (this is in hand btw)
d) Which garage would be best to carry out the work (I assume PAW)?
e) Any other ideas or thoughts you may have to offer.

Initially the idea will be to find a cheap, manual 'scrapper' that I can salvage all the fundamentals from. That would seem to be a good, cost-effective plan.

Once I've got that, I will need to find a strong, low mileage H22A lump.

After this, I will have to source the 'hard-to-finds' & 'abnormals' such as custom manifold & downpipe.

Then finally, it will be a case of just getting it all fitted.

So before I start actioning any of this I'm going to need to educate myself on certain things, and make preparations so as to cover as many of the bases as possible.

I appreciate there will always be a few things that get overlooked on conversions such as this, but if you guys are able to help in whichever way you can, then hopefully these oversights will be kept to a minimum & the whole process will be simplified & less problematic.

I look forward to your input. Lets get the ball rolling! ;)

Cheers, Andy

H22a with your choice of box.
H22a ECU
New H22 air intake or reroute a new pipe.
Custom exhaust as the H22 will sit lower.
Engine mounts
OBD0 to OBD1 conversion harness

Auto conversion parts (not sure on this but probably throttle lickages and cables etc etc and pedal mechanisms, new centre console of a manual 3rd gen and same with the clocks etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

Is it worth considering H2B?

custom driveshafts?

I think part of the engine bay may need to be cut, not 100% on that
