Exhaust wrap

Post by kris_aka_edu » Sun Jun 09, 2013 11:18 am

Ever since I fitted the manifold I bought off ddoubledanny I've had a really loud whistling noise from my exhaust. It's really annoying and only gets louder when I put my foot down. You can't hear it and normal travelling speed or high revs on when you put your foot down. I think it's coming from the centre section although I did find a hole in the manifold which when I put some exhaust paste it bubbled so you could tell there was a hole in the manifold.

I've decided to buy myself 20 metres of white exhaust wrap off eBay.
I'm not sure if this will fix all the leaks? Any techniques or advice on how to do it? Will it fix leaks or just hold the exhaust gases in more supposedly increasing horsepower?! (Personally I think this theory is a load of poop)

Ill be doing it at home tomorrow, if any one fancies giving me a hand it would be much appreciated I have ramps and tools just a hand would be good :)

X2 that. Leaks would need to be welded, temp fixed. Heat wrap is designed to reduce the heat radiation through the pipe. Have my mani wrapped on my civic due to it being mega close to the a/c :o. Maybe the whistle is due to an imperfection/miss alignment of the pipe somewere :? Or is the leak whistling?

It sounds like a very small hole somewhere around the centre section, the part that slides together. Maybe a wiggle about could help it. Ill still put it on might make a bit of difference but probably won't notice it.
