If you mean a k20, then I think the 2k you were going to spend on the K20 would cover it.

Engine + Gearbox can be had for £1000 - £1250 if your willing to wait.
You would have to make your own conversion harness, this wouldn't be too difficult as you could use the wiring diagram from Hondata's website. As much as £300 to pay somebody or less than £100 if you did it yourself.
You should be able to bodge together honda axles and hubs to get the drive shafts fitted. My original Prelude shafts work with my K20.
Engine mounts - please use OEM, aftermarket will shake the fillings out your teeth and you'll hate it if its a daily. How competent you at sheet metal fabrication?
New throttle cable bracket. £30
Modified or new gearbox cable bracket. £20 - 50
ECU Immobilizer bypass box £150
You'd have to run a pressure regulator as K20's use a returnless system.
Battery relocate - £25 for a tray
Earth straps and battery straps - £25

You would lose around 30kg of weight over a h22 conversion, you would have the awesome 6 speed close ratio gearbox, better fuel economy and the engines are good for just shy of 400bhp stock if you wanted to go that far..

If you wanna have a chat about the conversion and what I had to do to shoe horn mine in give me a shout.

I have fitted a few dry sump systems, making a sump pan for the s2000 engined mk2 escort. In my opinion its a waste of about a £1000.

Ok, well you're the one who's fitting the new engine Phil-Ted, so whatever you think. Will I have enough clearance without this modification?

Ok, well you're the boss. ;)

Very close to giving you a parts update btw. Got the initial engine already (H22A2  ) & a few other bits from a donor Gen 4, and should have the required Gen 3 parts early next month. Then it will just be a case of engine mounts, spark plugs, timing belt kit, water pump, induction kit, ignition leads, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, power steering pump (current one leaks a bit - although I have a 2nd hand spare?), OBD0-OBD1 conversion harness, Spoon copy chip from Rob, strut brace, and full custom exhaust system. Possibly a few other bits I've forgotten too.

Then I've just got to save up for the very modest labour costs involved.. ;)

Not too long now Dr. Phil! Only a few more months. :)
