Hand brake troubles 4th gen

Ok lude failed mot on handbrake seized one side an not working on other can anyone tell us how these work before i start it tommorr , is it shoes inside discs or does the handbrake work off the calipers an whats best way to get them working hoping i dont need new parts as wont be able to get them over weekend :(

Cheers so is it a matter of cleaning them an pads so no need to take disc off ?

no no need to take the disc off buddy take the caliper off clean and grease the sliders check the pads are moving freely on the caliper bracket see whether the cable is moving the mechanism

Thanks for that done loads of brakes but was not sure with the lude mite try an get new pads as they look quite thin too :D
