Half a tank of fuel. God knows about the fuel rail wouldn't know how that works.
My money's on the fuel pump personally. But trying to dizzy incase the spark is not enough to start it as a possibility?!
Come round Wurly :D
Would love to come to you but without a working car I can't lol.

Me and my mate have only gone and fixed it!! Nothing to do with the fuel pump, it was the little sparky things in the dizzy cap had gone brown. Scrapped it off with a screw driver and it fixed it!! Massive thanks to @bennyboy for advising me on it. Nothing to do with the igniter or anything else. So my massive starting problem cost me a 2 piece chicken meal for my best mate and I owe a favour to Bennyboy. Excellent. :D

Oh and we put my mates dizzy on and jump started the car as the battery was flat. And we unscrewed the fuel blead valve that's why we knew the fuel pump was working.
So happy it's working can't think properly!

*goes back into phonebox, removes cape, dons glasses once more*

Heh, seriously though no worries mate, I'm glad my hunch was right and it's sorted. 8-) Sorry that I was on a time scale and couldn't stick around to try it.
Must say there's no way I could imagine it firing properly with the rotor that loose and the cap that cruddy! Nice cheap fix though, always the best ones

Yeah mate it's cost me nothing so really impressed!! So nice to take it out for a spin, I tightened up the squeaky alternator belt while was at it. Took it out for a spin and was back to popping huge flames again!
Looks like a speed camera going off every time it happens massive orange flames curling up my wing mirrors :P

Huge flames, you say? How? Are you de-catted/straight through? Have you tweaked your throttle cable so there is zero slack? Are you running a different ECU? I want huge flames to discourage tailgaters... I don't want a spark plug based 'flamer kit' though.

TBH, huge, regular flames is just wastage - your chucking unburnt fuel out of the exhaust.
Mine used to give the occasional pop/flame, but now it's been mapped, its been pretty much dialled out in place of more power (I can still get a pop, but I have to 'make' it do it)
If it's happening that much, I'd look at all your ignition elements - dizzy cap points and rotor arm (youve now done), take out the sparks and clean and regap them carefully, or replace if you're at all concerned, check you have decent quality/condition HT leads. Also, check your timing, especially since you've been changing dizzys
It may not be as 'impressive' as flames, but the car will run much better and you'll thank me for it 8-)
