Its the bit that holds the coil springs up and looks like a fork but with only two prongs. It has one bolt at the top and one at the bottom...... :geek:

Hello guys, tryed to get the Hub nut off but haven't got socket big enuf so would it be ok to take wheel off, put the car in 'P' park, so the Hub doesn't move and crack it open with monkey wrench, and advice is very welcome

Yeah the only way you are going to get the hub nut off is with the wheel on and on the floor. You need a 36mm socket and a big breaker bar (possibly with an extension).

Also as a tip for anyone reading this, removing the bottom ball joint is not the easiest way to get the drive shaft out IMO. It is much easier to drop the upper arm from inside the engine bay and take out the fork bolt. The whole of the knuckle swings forward and by pressing down on the lower arm, there is enough room to get the drive shaft out. This saves having to split the bottom ball joint ;)

Yeah i have seen some cars needing a bar almost as long as the car itself to have enough leverage to crack the hub nut!

But saying that when i needed to do my mondeo the other day they were a lot looser then i was expecting.
