I agree the 4ws great when your running about the town and all, lets you slip into different lanes very easily and move about a lot easier, but it was just that one wee thing that put a question on it for me whether it was 100%, and from alot of the comments its made me abit more confident with it now. Just gonna have to get the miles down on it and get use to it and work out were its limits areDoggo wrote:Answering the OP, I've been sliding all sorts of cars for years, but am still getting used to 4ws after 8,000 miles.
That said, it's my considered opinion that when it comes to handling, anyone who doesn't think 4ws is the answer probably hasn't understood the question....

If your 4ws light comes on while you're driving then your back wheels aren't locked in place and can the car can weave about. This can be scary especially if you're driving at speed.. if you dip the clutch, turn off the ignition, turn it back on and pop the clutch it usually resets (for a while). When the 4WS works properly, apart from a few minor niggles during cross-over, its pretty damn great - if you hit a roundabout too hot and start to understeer it just sits on its ass and steers from the rear, I used to love that.

Seriously, drive an ATTS prelude, which is the same chassis, and tell me that with a straight face.
You have to think though, we are so lucky with the prelude. Most cars get a generic chassis and an open dif. there you go. drokk off and enjoy it.
We have the choice of many different combinations of drivetrain, a bespoke chassis and the choice of some pretty nifty tech, even by todays standards. That we have 4ws in such a relatively cheap car is amazing. that they also saw fit to design the ATTS system is unheard of. the only contemporary cars with the same type of tech were the nissan skyline or the 300zx. Both cars well above the prelude in cost and cool points.
qwe are lucky to be able to discuss the pro/con of atts/lsd/open/2ws/4ws imho and we should rejoice we are loving a car with so many options.
that said, having driven all that lude has to offer you cant beat a well maintained ATTS prelude for a bloody good laugh on a sunday morning. IMHO.
4ws will step out on you if you are not careful, as will an lsd and atts. you just have to get used to each systems habits. 4ws takes the longest to get used to at normal speeds imho.
6th gen Prelude please Mr Honda. RWD 2.4 turbo lude.
