yeah thanks merc, dont often get chance to hear it from the horses mouth. Scary and facinating at the same time.

You are right though. men are treated like materiel far too easily when the jobby goes down. We have come a long way from the trenches of verdun but to know that your back is covered like that must have been special. Battlebrothers 8-)

I wasn't having a go at UK or US forces or indeed any others its just they have a different mindset when it comes to people on the ground and they do not apologise for it. It may seem cynical that the French send more and more troops into a grinder because of perceived arrogance but you ask any of the men would they prefer to stay at home snuggled up on a sofa or to walk into hell to go help bring home their brothers the sofa would be empty  I am sure the UK and US guys would do the same But they are never allowed to be asked the question.
That's why a legionnaire will happily jump out of a perfectly good airplane  because they know the legion will march to hell to bring you back.
yes its a great feeling and it does sometimes make you reckless I have done things I wouldn't have thought possible when I sat down afterwards you just go into the bubble and all you hear is your brothers all you see are targets.
I was away this week in Llandudno I can relax there just walking eating out drinking chilling out, we went into an arcade my missus loves the 2p machines  I went on the terminator shoot em up game there were 3 kids on it and we were all playing the same scenario I kept them alive for ages  when they did eventually get knocked out they stood there agape watching me  I had to go because my missus had run out of 2p's  I gave the gun to one of the lads we had been on it for over 20 minutes

Echoing the others, thanks for sharing merc 8-)

The military has always interested me and I find it fascinating hearing about it, however grim or tragic it might be, though I'm not sure I have the right attitude for it. Still, people I went to school with who I would never have thought had it have ended up in the army, although they did come back with the biggest chip and an even bigger ego, for a time anyway  I'm not the biggest guy as those of you who've met me know, but size only matters in the genital dept. ;) I do often wonder how I'd get on. There was a time I'd considered it and should everything go tits up it has always been a plan in the back of my mind, but maybe I think too much.

@donald: you have to ask youself if you think you could draw a blade on merc and walk away the victor. the merc we know now that is, rather than the 'jumping out of aircraft' merc of yester year.

If the answer is still a loud NO then I would leave the idea alone

I freakin' loved that terminator game years ago. They dont seem to have made many new ones in the past ten years. I keep seeing the same ones as I was playing growing up. wonder why that is? Saw an 'operation wolf' a few weeks back  50p well spent.

I think that's the wrong question  too many variables on what could happen, but abstractly, do I believe I could... No
