Car audio that gives good sound but won't break the bank?

To clarify - that's In Car Entertainment - not frozen water

infinity ref sound ok for the money. i have A/B'd them against a few and those are the ones I bought.

It all depends how much you want to spend.

£50 budget? sounddeadening and a sunday afternoon.

after that anything upto £70-100 on deadening, £100 a set of front and the same on the backs with a 'half decent' head unit (£150+) or find a good one SH on ebay. great kit comes up for cheaps.

Deadening > HU > front speakers > sub > rear speakers.

I've got a roll of stuff you can have. I'll chuck it in my boot to add to my 'ammo's mobile collection point'.

thats prob not going to be enough to make a real difference.

its also on the pricy side, give or take.

cheap/cheerful/works

this is the kind of stuff iv used and its fine for cars at our level. put a few sections on all the panels. roof, outside door skins etc as 20% coverage reduces upto 80% of vibrations. as they try to propogate they are caught by the sticky and calmed. So if you strengthen the areas around the drivers with layers and then spread it out a bit you will have a much nicer ride full stop.

Ordered some of that. Half tempted to get a load and do the entire roof, as it makes a hell of a racket when it rains and I'm sleeping in it

some wadding will help that roof situation as well. The difference on the 'fingernail tap test' is phenomonal once you are finished.
