BTW, a short shifter on it's own is pointless from a performance point of view.

It only becomes of benefit when with a standard stick you literally can't change gear quick enough before the revs fall out of sync for the speed of the next gear. e.g. light fly wheel and close ratio box

aye probably best to do that then i just thought it would be a nice wee mod seen as ive never thought of fitting a shortshifter before

i think i still have a modified oem one that reduces the throw to about the middle holes of a FM short shifter

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but i have been interested in a short shifter lately.
Now the state my car and engine are in i cant justify spending loads on a proper short shifter, but no one has specified what is wrong with the adaptor linked in the first post.

Is it just build quality on that specific one? or is it adaptors in general? like increased wear and tear on the car or something?
