Arial wont come out
I've bought a 2nd gen prelude.
It has the original stereo in at the moment (not for long lol) but the arial doesnt extend out. Its an electrical one but i cant even pull it out by hand. is it case of replacing it for another electrical one or can i put a normal one in ?
cheers
Rob

firstly welcome, secontly dont try to pull it up. it will have a worm gear on the motor, unless the motor turns the gear it wont move. you need to turn the ignition on, turn stereo on, then remove plug on aerial, you need a volt meter. hold the black wire from the meter to a good earth point any exposed metal will do. then use the the red cable from the meter to probe the connector removed from the aerial to see if you have around 12volts. if not then you need to check if you have power out of the stereo, generally a blue wire from the stereo gives a 12volt output when switched on.

I think they are prone to seizing on this generation of Honda, the aerials on my Accord and Prelude (same aerial) are both seized in the fully extended position. I can hear the motor turning and clicking from the worm drive where the shaft isn't moving. If anyone knows how to get them moving again I'd love to hear how!

i might take it apart and wind it so its half out if it has packed in, kits on ebay are like £30 :/ when i get a new stereo i will hardly listen to the radio anyway.
but i will take test all the wiring going to it and the stereo to make sure power is getting to it. I can faintly get radio stations but not for long lol
