Yeah. I had to do the same when I got my JDM fog switch.
It is safe to assume that any earth wires will be back, so earth them off. Make up some circuits using your test lamp and the cars battery and investigate what each wire does.
A pic of the JDM pigtail would be helpful in assisting you
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

OK then. I'll try to help.
There is a pic of jdm fog switch connector

You can see two lines of wires top and bottom.
Obviously in top line you have only one BLACK wire, name it 1. On bottom one from left we have BLACK 2, RED/YELLOW 3, RED/BLACK 4 and RED/BLACK 5. You are looking only for wires No. 1,3 and 5.
Wires BLACK 2 and RED/BLACK 4 are used for night ilumination
So, according to second post from this link

^^ That is what I was wanting to see.
The two black wires will be the earth's
The red/orange is the wire that activates the relay
One of the red/black will be to illuminate the switch
The other red/black is the main power for the switch
You need to match these up with the writing for the existing switch.
