I can understand that. And yeah it's tough going from a higher wage to lower, or nothing at all, and although I'm still fairly young and have a whole working life ahead of me... no regular work, a maxed credit card, constantly at my overdraft limit and knowing I have quite a student loan to pay off can be quite stressful, but I'm also happier than I've ever been cos I'm doing something I enjoy.Gayno wrote:I would totally do something like that. The problem being I'm at the age where my girlfriend and I are saving to buy a house, and I really can't afford to go back to minimum wage for a long time, although minimum wage is better than no wage I suppose!!
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

I suppose that is the main thing, enjoyment!
I am lucky enough to have a fair amount of savings that could see me live for 6 months at my current spending rate, although if I were to lose my job I could sell my daily and just run the Prelude which will cut my day to day costs a bit.
Obviously this is worst case scenario, and after all this it may not even be me! I guess I need to hold off all this speculation until tomorrow!

I went to a franchise show at the NEC.
I signed up with a Chipsaway franchise, got a loan, registered for VAT and do my own VAT returns and accounts (body lemonade easy), hire an accountant for end of year tax etc and all that crap., trained, launched and now trading.
Done. Took 6 months to set up but it was a slow setup and can be done in 2 months.
Why not go to a franchise show and look around.

If you're thinking of anything web based be careful. I setup on my own to start a website 3yrs ago, which is still going on the side, but it takes a lot longer and costs a lot more money thank you think it's going to!
Cost me £3,000 to get a site built by my mate who was giving me good rates and I ended up chaning it a lot 6 months down the line. Also, it takes a long time to crack good google search results

Oh well, the search begins now!
