Burning oil.

Post by mart609 » Mon Jan 20, 2014 5:15 pm

So I drove to oulton park and back n November. I think I checked the oil before I left and it was ok. Not used the lude since. I checked my oil on Friday and it was WAY below the Min marker. only just registering on the dipstick.
So I filled it up, put a good ltr at least in.
Drove to Santa Pod and back the weekend, 180ish mile round trip.
Checked oil today. Back under the minumim mark again.
I checked under the car and it doesn't seem to be leaking. Pretty sure it's burning it. Because everytime I I give it some beans a big cloud of blue smoke plumes out the back.

So whats the news? Piston Rings? Valve Stem Seals?

Sounds like the rings, a full compression test will give you a better idea though.

could be the valve stem seals or worst case scenario piston rings do a compression test then drop a little oil In the bore and do it again if no change its the valve stem seals if it does its the rings
