Exhaust down pipe.

Post by GreenyUK » Tue Jan 28, 2014 12:22 pm

Hey up.
I've just has my car mot'd which it pasted :) but with a kind advisory of down pipe needs looking at lol.

So basically my car is uk model with the jdm engine, at the moment I believe the exhaust setup is ukdm, the cat measures 350mm which I believe is uk?

I can get hold of a jdm decat pipe which measures aprox 270mm from looking at a picture.

So what I need to know since I know need a down pipe is what to get if I wanted to fit the de at also.

I've read a thread on here about the different lengths etc but still I'm none the wiser as so many people seem to have different opinions

I also have at home a cat back mongoose system which came off a jdm car.

So help would be great :)

Ps the actual manifold is a Megan racing item however the down pipe section just looked standard.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge on 4th gen exhaust will comment. On 97-98 5th gens the difference in exhaust between UK & JDM is in the length of the CAT and midsection. If you are not changing the midsection don't change the decat. I hope that it is the same for 4th gens.

Why not just get a new flexi section welded in and a decat while they are at it?

Well I can get hold of jdm down pipe and jdm cat now, as I already a cat back system at home that came off a jdm car, I'm hoping that it should all just fit

IMO if you already have the JDM cat-back in the shed then it makes sense to get the matching JDM downpipe and decat. You'll side step any potential fitment issues when mixing up exhausts.

I have a JDM decat in the shed if you are interested?
