The 3rd Gen developed upon the 2nd. The 4th Gen was completely different and the 5th Gen built upon the 4th Gen with 3rd Gen goodness.

2nd Gens are teh sex.

In isolation they do look pretty similar but get a 2nd and 3rd gen parked alongside each other and they are very nearly as different to each other as a 4th and 5th gen would be.
Always prefered the 2nd gen to the 3rd gen for some reason.
