AIRBAG reset after replacement

Post by mynameisowen » Tue Feb 04, 2014 1:54 pm

Hello all,

My previously crashed prelude is now pretty much back to normal however I have one question for you guys.

I've recently replaced both passenger and driver airbagsafter they inflated in my crash.

The airbag warning light is on (SRS light) on the dash which I'm guessing is to do with the airbags going off.

I've seen a lot of conflicting information regarding having to replace an airbag control unit.

Can someone who has successfully managed to reset the SRS light (and therefore hopefully have fully functional airbags again) after replacing the airbagsplease let me know if this is necessary, if so where can I find this control unit?

Never had to do this myself (I have no airbags  ) but I'm sure I have read somewhere that only Honda can reset the system for you? I'm sure someone else will confirm or deny.

Lavurly

So by doing this (assuming I have installed the airbase correctly) they should work correctly? What's all this talk about replacing the control unit then?

This will work only with 5gens. Probably all this conflicting information is because 4gens airbags aren't so friendly.

BTW I would go to honda garage for full test rather than doing it myself to make 100% sure it's working. It's not so expensive to risk it.

Riiiiiight, luckily I have a 5th gen.

It's really surprising how heavy these airbag units are, especially the passenger one. So much weight, so high up.…
