yep and the iacv i took off had one corroded pipe so its been replaced with a better condition one.
i should get round to looking at the fitv today
manual says it cant be fixed if faulty but i found a guide on how to fix it on puk

We can have a look on Sunday if you are up for it? Check over all the bits, take the FITV off and bleed it thoroughly.

I have to do the front brakes on the 5th anyway so you are welcome round

If you are doing the FITV today watch out for the little o-rings as they can fall off easily.

Well it lookis like the fitv was faulty - took it off and cleaned and reset it and topped up the coolant and my idle is now at 1500rpm from cold instead of bouncing around the 2500 rpm mark.
So i am well please - also cleaned the egr valve and fitted a new gasket to it.
