A full colour change respray with doing the engine bay will cost thousands. Plus you are going to have to remove the engine anyway, not to mention all the other bits from the engine bay (which will take longer than removing the engine itself). The engine swap is the much cheaper option. A garage will probably do it in a day.

Well I'm not overly experienced reference mechanics as I make kitchens, but I'd like to do it my self if there's a book I could read to help that would be great

books tend to put you off buddy best to get stuck in and if you get stuck someone will help or just get a load of sausages and burgers start the bbq and invite everyone round

Well I have a garage and I could have a crack at one on my own, feels a bit daunting...has anyone actually done an engine swap?

That would be great pal, plus your quite near me location wise. Come have a look at my new one when your free next.Confused wrote:If I'm around, I'm in!
Simply swapping engine/gearbox between the cars will be rather simple, it's all plug and play.
It's not like you're putting a V6 into a Ford Anglia...

Re: Full colour change or swap engine and gear box
Mine may take a bit longer as I'll need to put the other engine back into the other car.W1ggz wrote:My mate swapped in a new engine in my last Lude took him and his mate about 7 hours
I suppose when I've swapped all the bits I want to make one really nice car I'll get rid of the other but still make it nice, so it lives on
