engine conversion

Post by Jamie P 2013 » Fri Apr 04, 2014 10:39 pm

Hi guys im sure this has probably been covered before but does anyone know how difficult it is to swap out a h22a5 enginge for a h22a7 in a 5th gen.

P.s. I dont know if it makes any difference but I dont need to worry about the 4ws system as mine is a 2ws.

Any input greatly appreciated

Is putting the a7 engine in the 5th more straightforward than the 4th gen as my friend is also interested in doing this & he has a 4th. Sorry for so many questions lol

it will run fine on the a5 ecu but wont get the best out of it until you either use an a7 or 8 ecu but might cause issues with the immobiliser

What would be the best ecu for mapping as I intend on doing a full exhaust system and intake?

wont need mapping with just an exhaust and intake.

if your going for a ported head and cams then ultimate would be a standalone ecu like an aem the problem with the 5g is that it is obd2 so doesnt like ecu tuning so an obd1 conversion harness and a p28 ecu with hondata is a great start

So there would be no benefit of getting a mappable ecu just for a 421 manifold decat exhaust and intake

not really buddy actually there would be a benefit but not enough to buy a standalone ecu unless your planning on going all out at some point

I have been thinking of an all out option but I dont think it would be suitable as a daily drive. Plus if im going all out I want forced induction which I will probably use a h5 engine for so its easier to replace if it goes wrong :?
