Hi mercutio. I took it easy and only put a little on the cloth. Then after a bit of spit and rubbing they do look rather nice. They now have the simonc seal of approval.

A day in the life (aka, the dash to Singapore!)

Post by simonc » Mon Apr 21, 2014 7:28 am

Good morning all,
A regular run to Singapore to give the Blue Beauty a good thrashing and get that Honda VTEC rush. Ah yes, I love the smell of burning rubber in the morning. Apologies but the Singapore and return bit is not included. Something happened to my camera after I'd passed through the Malaysian checkpoint. Although I was happily snapping away, much to my dismay nowt came out. I blame those pesky aliens that probed me on the way down. Anyway, take a look at my little photo diary and hope you enjoy it. Now all I have to do is wait till my mailbox is filled with speeding summonses! (A small price to pay for the sheer delight of driving this beautiful, elegant and oh so powerful car.) Vroom Vroom and indeed, Vroom!

KL to the left of me, JB to the right, here I am, stuck in the middle with you

Image

I always feel like, somebody's watching me and I get no privacy, woah oh oh ah (some of you 80's musical aficionados will recognise that one!)

Image

Motorbikin', moving down the Queen's highway lookin' like a streak of lightnin'
( What I'm really disappointed at is not capturing the 6 Nissan GT-R's that came blasting past like rolling thunder. Bloody magnificent )

Image

Image

And I'm happy just to drive in you. (She's a beauty isn't she?)

Image

The Long and Winding Road.

Image

Under Attack. Proof positive that I was visited (perhaps probed, oooooh matron!) by aliens as this bizarre shot proves. Any Mulder's amongst you that explain this?

Image

Only I can drive my car, yes I'm gonna drive so far, only I can drive my car and Honda, I love you. Beep-beep, beep-beep, yeah!

Image

OK Simon, you are go for throttle up...

Image

You Won't See Me.
(...Mr Policeman in your crappy Proton as the VTEC of my screaming 2.2 engine has kicked in and I'm just a blue blur!)
Ha ha ha, eat my turbulence suckers!

Image

I can't stand the rain, against my windows...

Image

Rain.
For you Beatleistas and other 60's pop-pickers, Rain was a double A side with Paperback Writer. Both bobby dazzler driving records. Bring it on..

Image

Slow Down.
Another classic Beatles track. Notice Mr C cruising at a sedate 120 kph. Call me Mr Cautious given the fact that the road now resembled the Nile.

Image

The Road to Hell.
Thanks to Mr Chris Rea for being on in the background whilst Blue Beauty cuts a swathe through the monsoonesque conditions.

Image

Here Comes The Sun ( thank God, I was dying for ciggie!)

Image

Get Back.

Oh no! And I so wanted to see the sewage treatment plant in action. A day ruined by petty bureaucracy.

Image

Money (that's all Shell wants...)

Blue Beauty runs on Shell Racing petrol. Gives more vroom for your buck and because my lovely Prelude is worth it. And Gents, notice the price per litre that'll make you weep.

Image

I've got a full tank of gas, I'm halfway to Singapore, I've a full packet of cigarettes and I'm wearing sunglasses..

Image

Should I stay (and have another ciggy) or should I go (and make up for lost time)?

Image

Day Tripper.

Arriving at the Malaysian checkpoint then on over the Causeway and into the calm and sophistication of Singapore.

This was my last photo on the trip but I did not know it. I still kept snapping away hoping to document my two hour turnaround and the return back to Klang.

I blame those bloody aliens!

Image

So that's all folks...

I still haven't figured out why it packed up so I'm afraid you'll have to wait for another run when I'll be able to document Singers and the long schlep back 'oop north to Klang.

Hope you enjoyed my 'Day in the Life"

Yes merc but that's because I set off at just after 7am so most Malaysian's are still tucked up. Also for some reason there was a ton of Plod out and about yesterday which cramped my style somewhat. Damn those boys in blue!
If my camera had been behaving itself you'd have seen the horrendous jams on the return!
So sorry not to be able to have shared my shots of the Lion City, I'd got quite a few ( or so I thought ) specially to show you. Still, there's always the next time...

Hi ADS1, 90kph on lots of the 'less than straight bits' and then 110kph on the 'better' parts of the motorway. I tell you mate, it's tough to keep that low in the kind of cars we drive!
Mind you, if you are stopped, in 60/70% of the cases, a RM50 (£10.00) note inside the passport or underneath the licence will get you a flea in your ear and a ' don't let me catch you again'.
Welcome to incorruptible Malaysia! *cough*
