Budget BHP: Turbo or nos?

I was chatting to Mudgey earlier and he is getting some nos kits in, they sound pretty straightforward to install and can run 35/50/75bhp gains. can be switched on and off for normal driving and can be set up in a number of different ways.
With being a mate im estimating the cost including a bottle to be about £400. 40 odd quid a refill.

I have also been thinking for a while about trying to piece together a dirt cheap turbo. the upside to this is that there are no refills to pay for, once its in its in essentially.
The main downsides i can see are that it would be a lot more work to install (not sure i could do it myself) and i cant afford the engine work to go with it, so im guessing i wouldnt be able to run very high gains. can anyone advise me on what i could be running safely on the stock internals in terms of bhp?

even with shipping im guessing its gonna be around the same price margin as the nos kit(EDIT: shipping is actually 10 dollars more then the kit

), its just fitting it.
Does it come with everything i would need? does it look like its worth trying?

basically if i can get some good power out of mine without spending too much i will stick with it, but the power bug has bitten and i have been wanting rwd for a while now, but its gonna be a big cost to get what i want.
I love the lude and i want to keep it on so any advice on budget power gains would be much appreciated!

if you really want to go turbo go on Honda tech in the drag racing section they have a monthly for sale thread its full of the best stuff

I will take a look, but the main problem is i dont really have any idea what im looking for past "a turbo"

Hence why i figured a kit would be a good idea.

a lot of these kits are rubbish buddy seconds thrown together there was someone on here bought one and the turbo's seals were gone

Haha! I've got visions of you running straight to the computer upon arriving home to research both systems!!

Your right on what you said about costs, Nitrous is cheap to set up but you pay for it continually based on useage whereas Turbo is a big hit upfront but it never runs out!!

the nos jus seems like a real cheap and cheerful way to go, especially as i could just have all the set up and just run it for the drag days and whatnot.

I presume you are able to run the car without the bottle attached? like you can cap off the hose or something?

nos will not get insurance, turbo a lude just seems like a lot of money for no real gain when you could buy any number of proper turbo cars for the money.

nos for occasional use.

see this is my issue, i have had my heart set on a silvia or supra for quite some time, but havent got the money to even think about one at the moment. but i would ve happy if i coukd gey a decent hit of power out of my lude as im reluctant to get rid of it after all the time and effort i have put in to keeping it going.

Well the advantage to the nos system is that if you then find the silvia you wanted you could take the nos out and bang it in there as well
