Sponsored Bath Beat Walk / Hike for my boy - 17 miles!

Post by nucleustylzlude » Thu Mar 29, 2012 4:07 pm

Hi everyone!

Thought I'd post in here as you gave us great support last year.

On Saturday 14th April 2012, a group of 10 of us will be walking The Bath Beat - a 17 mile circular route cross country.

We want to do this as a tribute and in memory of my son Caleb, who as most of you know we lost at birth a year and a half ago. But we are also completing the challenge to raise money for the SANDS charity. We completed the lesser walk of 12.5 miles last year and have set our goals higher at 17 miles! You can see the delights of our day last year at this site: http://www.calebscandles.co.uk/bathbeat.html

Give it a day or two and the link to Claire's candle making site will be uploaded in beta, I know some of you were keen before Xmas - well she has made hundreds since!

The SANDS charity is very dear to our hearts and helped us in our time of need. They support anyone affected by the death of a baby and also promote research to reduce the loss of babies lives. Unbelievably, 17 babies are stillborn or die shortly after birth every day in the UK! This shocking figure, the loss of 6,500 babies every year, is something the public is not generally aware of. Most people think stillbirths don’t happen in the 21st century. Yet stillbirth in the UK is 10 times more common than cot death.

I hope you can spare some money to sponsor us to complete this walk, we appreciate times are tough but a gesture however small is greatly appreciated.
You can give an online donation at: http://www.justgiving.com/caleb-wyatt

The amount raised last year of just over £2k has been left on this page, this year’s donations will be added to the overall total – please give what you can.

Many thanks for your support in advance.

Kind regards,

Rob

I remember your last thread man. Have done the donation deed, hope you have fun doing it again (and get the weather!).

Donationed :) Didn't see I could add a little message on there.

I believe you did a similar walk last year? And the weather was great, I hope it holds out for you this year as well :)

Good thinking Batman.

I guess that would have been a nice mod thing for me to do, but didn't want to impose it so much.

Just a quick message to say we completed the gruelling 17 mile journey on Saturday with all legs and dignity intact.

The weather was on and off throughout the day but we battled through it.

Thankyou to all those who donated so kindly. :D

We have some pics from the day adorning our Charity T-shirts, balloons etc, need to upload them.

Cheers,

Rob
