Maybe mine was just the tune - don't want to confuse things. :?

No no you might be onto something...

This was the whole reason I asked the question, the fault lies just off idle as you give the throttle the gentlest tickle you can imagine.

I can repeat it each time with the same result

Idle problems are ten a penny on these engines though, I assume you've checked all the usual culprits for bouncy/dropping idles? IACV, FITV, bleeding coolant, etc?

everything's been checked, no loss of vacuum, idles and fast idles perfectly but this one problem i can repeat again and again and again.

i'd be interested to hear any more info from a mapping perspective...i'm learning more and more about mapping but i'm not confident enough yet to tune it all.

Have you replaced the TPS?

Try disconnecting it with the ignition off. Then start the car, warm it up for a few minutes and see if it still does it. You'll get a CEL, but it will go when you turn off, reconnect and restart.

That test should tell you if it's tune/ECU/sensor.

the TPS is fine through its entire range mate, i've got an Apexi Power FC with the handheld commander that gives sensor outputs.

plus i set it manually at the ECU when i replaced the throttle body.

the fault existed before the map so it can't be that.
