Fair play mate, it was just a thought. I will be getting my BBQ gear from there anyway and I bring one of the mega packs of bacon down too.honda-hardy wrote:farlow wrote:Yeah, this is shaping up to be a fairly spectacular event. I have a few serious questions / ideas for you guys to consider.
Secondly @ everyone
I live near to a very popular meat wholesaler that during the summer months has an excellent variety of BBQ food. It's also very cheap (I spent £50 last year and filled the freezer to the point where we're still eating it now). If we were to get organised and maybe chip in a few £ each I could maybe fill my car with meat for us all to enjoy. Also, on the subject of meat, we buy our bacon from the local cash and carry in thick cut 2.5kg packs. It is of excellent quality and the packs are less than a tenner each.
If anyone is interested just let me know and I'll see what I can do.
i too suggested this last year, but people like to bring their own along. spicy wings, nitin, its all edible.
but i will add. JAMES. can you get another fridge. your piddly thing in the kitchen will not cope this time.
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

ANSWERS
the rig will be plugged into a set play list on a samsung tablet. No decks, no cdj's, no microphones and no DJ's.. please feel free to put on what you want when I have gone to bed. It will be of a broad and funky style based around breakbeat, 2/4 beat with some funky house mixed in. Party music. No cheesey chart stuff, no german techno and no hiphop.
I am a food nazi ok? Please dont be offended by my views any more than need be to get the point across.
Personally I will be buying named products to cook eat and share. I appreciate that great deals are available on large quantities of meat and that the quality is not 'bad' but they always include sulphites, questionable bodyparts, rusk and fillers. Real meat (chops etc) 100% beef burgers from named cows, sausages from the butcher or TESCO FINEST,SAINSBURYS TASTE THE DIFFERENCE etc type products would be my advice but if anyone wants to club together to get multipack of sausages and burgers please feel free. It would not be my personal choice to cook and eat though. Quality before quantity. Cheap meat is cheap for a reason unless your best friend is a butcher.
Please dont be offended, its just my opinion after working in hospitality and eating a LOT of bbq food. Less is most definatly more. 2.5kg packs of cheap bacon dont fall into the category. Fill your boots with bacon.
The fridge will be joined by a fosters beer fridge a smirnoff fridge and the freezer will have more space. We should be ok.
